Mrs. May Stewart

I am Mrs. May Q. Stewart. I was born in Manila, Philippines. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from Angeles University Foundation, Philippines. I also finished my Masters in Reading and this year I  have completed my Education Specialist Degree from Grand Canyon University. I was an elementary teacher for 9 years in the Philippines before I became an international teacher and cultural ambassador in North Carolina for 4 years. In addition, I was a 5th-grade teacher in one of the private schools in Rock Hill before I came to HCJ.

I am married to a wonderful husband, Chris Stewart, and we are blessed with two lovely daughters, Grace and Mary. Grace is a former student of HCJ and she will be in 6th grade this year,  while Mary is in 4th grade here at HCJ. During my spare moments, I love watching old and new movies, listening to music, reading books, playing online games with the family, cooking, and gardening.

Last year, I have had a great opportunity to teach third grade in a virtual setting. For my 8th year of teaching here, I am ready to serve my awesome third graders to explore Science through hands-on and to learn Math in a systematic approach that will lead them to apply the practical importance of Science and Math in their daily lives!

Mrs. Kathleen Summerville

I am Katheleen Summerville, now a 3rd grade teacher for HCJ.  This is my 11th year in education.  I taught kindergarten for the Clover School District before staying home with my own children.  Now that my children are school aged, I am thrilled to be part of an elementary school again.

I graduated from Winthrop University and am currently earning graduate coursework through Clemson University’s Early Literacy Reading Program.  I love to learn new and creative ways to better inform my students.

HCJ is an awesome place to work!  However, when I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family.  We love to go camping and hiking.  Cheering on the Clemson Tigers is another family favorite.  My favorite place to get away is the beach!

Mrs. Haley Whitesides

My name is Haley Whitesides. This is my first-year teaching after graduating from Winthrop University in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. As a York native, I have always had a love for HCJ! I was able to complete field experiences at HCJ and volunteer in various classrooms throughout the years.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and our sweet puppy, Sadie. I also love shopping and taking vacations to the beach. I am so excited to begin this journey in 3rd grade and I cannot wait to create a family within our classroom this year!

Mr. Terrance Wilson

I am so excited to get the MAGIC going this year at HCJ in 3rd Grade!  Many fun tricks are up my sleeve to make this year the best one yet.

The 2021-2022 school year will be my 8th year in education. Before coming to Harold C Johnson Elementary I taught 2nd Grade for five years at Jefferson Elementary.

I currently live in Rock Hill with my wife Alisabeth and our daughter, Kailyn. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and working in the community with my fraternity brothers.

Feast your eyes and prepare to be amazed with what 3rd grade has to offer!
